Common types of metering pumps include plunger pumps, diaphragm pumps, and gear pumps, of which the former two are more widely used. A typical reciprocating metering pump is mainly composed of three parts: a transmission base part, a pump head part and a motor. The transmission base part transforms the circular motion of the motor into the reciprocating motion of the plunger (or diaphragm) in the pump head. With the reciprocating movement of the plunger (or diaphragm) in the liquid cylinder, the liquid is continuously sucked in and discharged. During the ejection stroke, the movement of the plunger (or diaphragm) increases the pressure on the liquid, so that the liquid can be transported. Since the amount of liquid pushed by the plunger (or diaphragm) in each cycle is proportional to the stroke it pushes, changing the stroke length can easily achieve the effect of adjusting the flow rate, and it can also adjust the flow rate by changing the reciprocating frequency or using both methods .

Although similar in structure, plunger pumps differ significantly from diaphragm pumps. It directly uses the plunger to push the working medium, so the plunger metering pump has the advantages of simple structure, high temperature and pressure resistance, and high metering accuracy. However, the structure of the plunger pump brings significant benefits, but also leads to the disadvantage that the working medium and the lubricant in the pump cannot be completely isolated. Even if packing is used to seal the plunger, the metering accuracy of the pump will be affected after the packing is corroded and ground. Reliability of packing seals in media conveying applications with high anti-pollution requirements is also insufficient. For such application environment, the diaphragm metering pump has unparalleled advantages.
2.Characteristics of diaphragm metering pump
As the name suggests, the diaphragm metering pump uses a flexible diaphragm instead of a piston to achieve reciprocating movement under the action of a driving mechanism to complete the suction-exhaust process. Due to the isolation function of the diaphragm, the separation between the measured fluid and the driving lubrication mechanism is truly realized in structure. Therefore, it is especially suitable for places where leakage is not allowed. For example, conveying flammable, explosive, toxic and valuable media, optimized structural design and the selection of new materials have greatly improved the service life of the diaphragm, and the excellent corrosion resistance of composite materials Diaphragm metering pumps have now become the main pump type in fluid metering applications. In the family of diaphragm metering pumps, hydraulically driven diaphragm pumps use oil to uniformly drive the diaphragm, which overcomes the problem of pump diaphragms under mechanical direct drive.
